Service Pack 2: More efficiency with the optimized pipe spec editor

The new update for Smap3D Plant Design comes with a significantly more powerful and user-friendly pipe specification editor. In addition to technical and visual modernizations, the focus this time is clearly on optimizing workflows.

The central highlight of the new update: Existing pipe specs, master variants or complete categories from the PartFinder can now be loaded directly into a special import window in the Pipe Specification Editor. From there, the desired elements can be selectively added to existing pipe specs. This not only saves time, but also makes the creation and maintenance of pipe specs much more efficient. New tabs have been implemented for this purpose, which are described in more detail below.

New “Insert selection” tab – conveniently integrate mass data

This tool is particularly useful when working with many components, as it enables a bulk upload of existing pipe spec content with associated functions. The process:

  • Functions such as “Add part”, “Add category” or “Add from pipe classes” load the desired content into the tab.
  • The user can select specific components – or accept them all.
  • By clicking on “Add selection to pipe class”, the selected lines end up in the “Content” tab.
  • Only key names, diameters and optional details such as favorite or insulation need to be defined there.

Another plus: Multiple assignments (e.g. for key names) are now possible directly via the new detail panel. Sorting via drag-and-drop also makes individual editing much easier.

“Reduction table” tab – targeted editing of reduction components

This new function allows pipe spec contents for reductions to be specifically displayed, filtered, defined and edited. Depending on the activated diameter values, a cell-based view is loaded in which already defined components are displayed in color.

  • The user selects the QuickPlace method (with the corresponding key names) for which the content is to be displayed from a drop-down menu.
  • Key names without an assigned method are also taken into account if the reduction option is activated.
  • Abbreviations (instead of key names) provide a better overview, if defined in the settings.

If a cell is selected, its content appears underneath as an editable row. New components can be added directly in the table using the context menu - including automatic transfer to the “Contents” tab.
