2D Flow Diagrams (P&ID, R+I)

2D flow diagrams (R+I and P&ID-schematic diagrams) is among the most important of documents, often described as the 'Plant Bible'.

Content and presentation of R&I flow diagrams and P&ID diagrams for process engineering plants are regulated in Europe under DIN (German ID number) EN ISO 10628,  and all systems and components (containers, pumps, fittings) are represented as symbols, not drawn to scale. Connecting lines represent pipelines. They are marked with nominal width, pipe class, an ID number and further information.

Smap3D P&ID:
the Smap3D product family's intelligent P&ID software solution

Create, modify, manage and check your R&I diagrams and schemes with Smap3D P&ID.

With this databank-based stand-alone software, the user has all the relevant charts, diagrams, drafts, evaluations and trials at hand in one single software package. Smap3D P&ID automates and simplifies frequently repeated tasks. All drawing sheets, project sheets and reports are template-based and therefore 100% configurable.

  • Symbols and 2D Geometry
Besides the already included symbol libraries (ISO/DIN, ISA), it is also possible to integrate one's own already available symbols (2D geometry in DXF, DWG format) or using 'symbol generator', to simply and quickly, produce new, company specific symbols. Symbols are scalable when placed in a drawing. They are aligned with a snap raster and react logically when built into a line.  This means that the required turning of symbols and the separation of the line follow automatically. 'TAG numbers' and further characteristics are requested in automatic dialogue.
  • Component Information
Besides the existing components, any arbitrary company or project-specific components may be put into the component databank. If, during placement into a drawing, the required symbols must be allocated to components, then not only the symbol geometry is used, but the entire component information is delivered automatically to the project.  The required 'TAG numbering' is requested in automatic dialogue. All available information can then be visibly extrapolated from the drawing.
  • Dynamic Lines (Pipelines)3D-CAD-Software for pipeline planning - 2D-flow diagrams
Our dynamic lines greatly simplify the drawing and processing of pipelines. The lines react dynamically to the inclusion or removal of symbols/components, by their automatic separation or closing. Manual reworking of lines is therefore unnecessary. With the aid of 'handles' lines may be altered, (elongated, shortened, shifted). After the allocation of pipeline features (pipeline number, pipe class, DN etc.) a drawn line becomes a logical pipeline. All the available information can then be visibly extrapolated from the drawing.
  • Testing (Validation)
Using available 'Design Checks', single P&ID drawings as well as the entire project can be checked for completeness, plausibility and accuracy.
  • Evaluations and reports
Arbitrary BOMs or evaluations as project sheets, but also exported data, can be produced from all the collated project information, in the form of symbols, components and pipelines. Supported formats for export are 'XML', 'Microsoft® Excel® and 'Comma or column separated text data'. Their contents are 100% configurable, storable and reusable.
